Hi there! My name is Paul Scrivens and I’m a blogger.
That’s such a weird thing to say because the term blogger doesn’t have the best connotation but that’s really what I am. I have blogs and I write for them so technically I’m a blogger.
However, if you really want to dive deeper into then I guess you could say that I’m a problem solver, but that’s a bit too abstract for this post.
You’re here because you want to know how I make so much money each month without having to work crazy hours so that’s what I’ll focus on.
You might be asking myself if I really do make this much money blogging and I definitely do. In fact, here is a screenshot from ONE of my sites:
In December, I made (after credit card processing fees) $12,607.48. Now, that is just from one of my sites. I have multiple streams of revenue but I don’t want to overwhelm you and think you need to have a crazy setup like me.
What’s crazy is that in December I might’ve worked maybe 8 hours total. I really took the month off and the money kept coming in.
I can’t blow smoke up your butt and tell you I got here instantly. It did take work and I’ll talk about that in a second but now let’s dive into what I actually do.
What I Do
When someone says they are a blogger that is generally too general. What I really do is figure out what problems my audience has and then I write content that offers solutions to those problems.
For example, you might be wondering how you can make 5 figures a month without killing yourself at a 9-5 grind and this post is here to show you.
This might seem pretty general but think about your online habits. When you have a problem do you go to Google and search for a solution? If you do then maybe you come across a blog that helps you out.
The blogger has done such a good job of helping you out that you sign up for their mailing list or maybe you click on one of their affiliate links.
There are a ridiculous number of ways to make money blogging. I’m not going to go into all of those ways but just know you aren’t limited by one method.
If I write a post on how to make money blogging I might link to my membership site the Billionaire Blog Club which teaches bloggers how to build blog businesses.
Someone signs up, I make money.
Or I might teach someone how to lose weight with the ketogenic diet and that leads them to another membership site or a book.
What if I just want to write about how to organize your bathroom? Well I could use affiliate marketing to link to all of the products that I use to organize a bathroom. I can also include ads on the site.
These are just some of the ways that I make money blogging.
The act of blogging is merely the gateway of getting people to your site.
With any online business you want to build an audience and blogging is a great way to help you build that audience.
Building an Audience
One of the biggest mistakes that people make when starting an online business is not focusing on building an audience. The idea behind building an audience is that you want to be able to reach people on a consistent basis.
Think of your local bar. Do they make more money from the regulars or the people that only drop in once?
The regulars is the correct answer.
When you build an audience you’re focused on getting regulars because in the long run they will make you the most money.
However, you can’t get regulars if you don’t provide value so how do you create that value?
Are you starting to see how all of this is coming together?
Seriously, if you focus all of your energy on building an audience then making money will become a whole lot easier.
Is it easier to hope that a random person comes to your site and makes a purchase or that you have a mailing list of 5,000 people that you can hit up whenever you want to showcase your latest product?
The Mailing List
For the bloggers that make the big money this is their secret.
You might be thinking that email is outdated and nobody pays attention to it and you would be wrong.
Everybody checks their email!
Do they pay attention to every single email? Of course not but if you understand how to provide value to your audience then you can definitely get them to open your emails.
With my audience I can introduce new people to my old products or do a product launch that can easily help me generate 5 figures or more over a couple of days.
If you’re going to be a blogger or start an online business then one thing you need to remember is that the money is in the list.
If you keep that in mind you’ll find success a lot easier to come by.
Time and Patience
Now, this isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme.
It takes time to build an audience. It takes time to figure out what you’re going to write about.
Basically, all of this takes time. If you don’t have time then it’s just not going to work out for you.
Most people aren’t willing to sacrifice their time to build something. They think about the end result without envisioning the work that is required.
I didn’t start off working 40 hours a month. I started putting in 100s each month because I knew where I wanted to go.
I’m not saying you need to follow the path that I’ve taken but I don’t want you to think that there is an easy way to get to where I’m at.
Trust me, I tried for over a decade with no success.
Now, you might not want or need to make $10,000 a month. Maybe you just want a couple thousand extra a month.
Blogging is still great for you. The only difference between 4 figures a month and 5 figures a month is how you make it.
You can easily do 4 figures a month with ads and affiliate marketing alone. It’s a lot harder to reach 5 figures with these methods because it requires a lot more page views (especially ads).
To get to over $10,000 a month, most bloggers have products of their own like books or courses.
When you have your own product you control the cost and therefore revenue.
This is a good place to be in but it’s not something that you need to do right away.
Take the time to build up an audience, use ads and affiliate marketing to supplement the journey and when you’re ready create an info product and sell it to your audience that you’ve been building.
Obviously I’ve simplified things but it’s important you understand the general steps to see that it’s nothing crazy.
It’s just work.
